“It’s All Good” by Gwyneth Paltrow and it mostly is

Since finding out that one of our daughters isn’t so good with gluten (?maybe, it’s hard to tell) I have become a massive consumer of gluten free cook books, websites and recipes to find inspiration.  While I don’t personally subscribe to her elimination diet or couldn’t even to begin to understand her way of life (“conscious uncoupling anyone”) I do make a lot of recipes from Gwyneth Paltrow’s “It’s All Good” cook book.

It is jammed packed full of vegan, gluten free, dairy free, allergen free, organic recipes that, if you only ate like that would cost you a small fortune, but there are so many recipes in there to pick and choose from, including some meat, poultry and fish ones, I thought it was a worthwhile investment for my purposes (and then asked my sister to give it to me for my birthday, thanks Becks!).  I’m not sure if they do make me look good but all the recipes I have tried so far have tasted great.

For lunch boxes we make her Sweet Potato & 5 Spice Muffins  quite a bit (click to see the recipe).

She has a great Melted Anchovies & Rosemary Sauce for steaks – heat 1/4 C olive oil in a small pan over a medium heat, add 8 anchovies and cook, stirring with a spoon until they dissolve into the oil.  Add very finely chopped leaves from 1 sprig rosemary and cook for 1 minute and then pour over cooked steaks – it really makes a difference to a steak.

I will write a post about her divine Roasted Cauliflower & Chickpea with Mustard & Parsley as it’s up there with one of my favourite salads/sides of all time, yes I love it that much!

I also make her Banana “Ice Cream” with Sweet & Salty Roasted Almonds quite a bit as a healthy dessert, there is no dairy in it, will post about that one day too.

It’s worth having a flick through the book just to look at her cute family (no Chris Martin though, unfortunately), nice food shots and Gwyneth walking through fields in floppy hats with glowing skin.  I think a lot of reviewers have panned the book just because it’s by Gwyneth Paltrow and her life is mostly unattainable but if you use the book as you would any other recipe book, rather than a diet plan, the recipes are actually genuinely tasty and gives you lots of inspiration for healthy, flavoursome “clean” eating.
