Many ways with Strawberries (7 to be exact)

strawberries-webAre you a strawberry fan?  They are so abundant and cheap in the shops at the moment (here in Sydney) that I’ve been seeking out creative ways to use them.  That said you can’t beat a lovely ripe fresh strawberry just as it is (well so I’m told I don’t really like them but love strawberry jam, cake, muffins, in salads and on desserts).  My strange tastes aside I’ve been finding some lovely recipes for them and have listed 7 here ranging from sweet to savour.

First up we made this Strawberry Loaf during the week from Bake Play Smile.  The photo is of my version it got gobbled up before I even got a chance to put the Lemon Glaze on it!

These rustic looking mini Strawberry Buttermilk scones I created by mistake are on fairly regular rotation around here.

Last holidays I posted about Magic Monkey Fruit and they are still very popular, well who doesn’t like chocolate strawberries (except me?) and the kids love making them.

This week we also made our own strawberry frozen yoghurt pops using sliced up fresh strawberries and sweetened greek yoghurt in our fancy pants ice block maker (it’s by Zoku and makes ice blocks in under 10 minutes) but if you don’t have one just normal moulds and the freezer works a treat too.

I will most definitely be making this Strawberry & Spinach Salad with Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette, will you try it too? Photo is from the All Recipes site through the recipe link

How about these gorgeous looking Lemon, Basil Strawberry Caprese by “Cooking on the Weekends” (photo credit to Cooking on the Weekends)?  Wouldn’t they look fancy at a party and taste amazing too!

Then there is always on French Toast or to go with Ricotta Hotcakes for breakfast or simply on top of yoghurt.

I was just swooning over the cheap strawberries at the fruit market the other day.
Thanks for the inspiration. I now have a hankering for some ricotta and strawberry hotcakes. Will have to put them on the weekend to-do list!! As well as those buttermilk scones. And that soup has me intrigued!
