Things I’m Loving…out and about

On a cold rainy day last week I was lucky enough to go to a lovely “Winter Warmer “Morning Tea held at Murobond Paints in Artarmon and hosted by Silvia of The Lost and Found Department.  Silvia and Sally of Simmer & Boyle put on the most divine delicacies.

The Falcon enamelware was in abundance in red and blue, a tiny teapot and a spotty measuring jug made their way home with me, plus maybe a few other things….(you can buy it at thelostandfounddepartment)

GT & I had a “date night”.  We love the movies but since having kids we seem to have missed most of the latest releases from the last 7 years, sound familiar or have you been a bit better at prioritising “us” time?  Now that we are trying to get out a bit more on “dates” we are taking it in turns to choose the movie and the venue.  I’m pretty impressed with my find if I do say so myself.  The Golden Age Cinema & Bar in Sydney’s Surry Hills is fabulous.  It’s directly opposite Longrain (we snuck into the Bunker Bar first and had a cheeky pork belly slider and a glass of red), in Paramount House.  The bar and cinema are underground and has a great atmosphere.  There is a cute food menu at the bar, all with a movie theme like the Spielburger and the John Candy box, the cinema is the old screening room completely refurbished in an art deco style.  It looks like it seats about 50 people or so.  If you are in Sydney and you get a chance I really recommend a visit.

We saw The Lunchbox which we both thought was great.  It’s an Indian movie about a lunchbox in Mumbai that gets delivered to the wrong person and the friendship that grows from there, it’s really sweet.  Have you seen it? GT gets to pick the next one….

The sun made an appearance for the first day of Spring so we had an impromtu picnic with some friends.  Just in time too as everyone had cabin fever and a certain feralness was kicking in.  There was no time to get to the shops but we managed to russell up a few things and climb some trees!

Zucchini, Bacon & Cheese Muffins, left over sausages, Beer Can Chicken and chorizo & haloumi skewers, some leftover hummus flying at half mast, some veggies bits, pita pockets, muesli bars and orange cake.

Have you been out and about lately?  Got any finds to share?
