Back to School Link Up sharing tips, hints, ideas and stories, come along and join in

back-to-school for post web

Can you believe the summer holidays are nearly over?  Are you ready for the return/start of school?  I’ve loved not having to rush in the mornings and especially loved not having to do the lunch boxes every day.  So. Very. Tedious!  But as we are right back into from next week, to try and lighten the load a few blogging friends and I have created a “linky party” for all things Back to School related.

Scroll down and check out their hints, tips, ideas and stories, it’s not just about food. If you are a blogger please feel free to add your posts to the link up too and it will show on all 6 sites. You don’t have to have school age kids or even kids to have something to say!

To get things rolling I’ve been a scrolling! Ok, a bit corny (I’ve tested out Corn Bread too) but  given my girls current and seemingly on-going aversion to sandwiches I’ve been testing out non-sandwich ideas on them. Pizza scrolls have hit the spot even if my execution of them wasn’t so pretty.

I followed this recipe from Coles for my first attempt as it’s a quick one and I was racing off somewhere but only used tomato paste, ham & cheese for the fillings as I didn’t have everything and made some with cheese & Vegemite. In the interest of “keeping it real” I’ve used this photo of them looking a bit dodgy, because, well this is how they turned out and pastry isn’t my forte but they tasted great, the girls loved them and I’m blaming the gluten free flour I used!  I will try again as I’ve seen others make them look much better!

My blogging friend Lucy of Bake, Play Smile has this delicious recipe for the Ham & Cheese Scrolls in the Thermomix

The Organised Housewife has this recipe for these super easy Cheese & Vegemite scrolls that can be done before school if necessary they are that quick!

Do you scroll?

On to something not food related for a moment.  How are your kids feeling about going back to / starting school?  I’ve got one going into Year 1 who is super excited but my girl going into Year 3, first day back is her birthday, is quite apprehensive about being able to keep up with the school work and the transition from being in the “infants” school to the “primary” school.  Has anyone else experienced this? Want to chat about it?  In the wise words of Winnie the Pooh I’m telling her…
