Sweet & Savoury Pork Stir Fry – mid week meal in minutes

I think stir fries are great for quick and easy mid week meals that can be made in minutes.  They are healthy and are also a great way of using up vegies that have been lurking in the crisper, you really can add any you like.  My Mum has a friend who only ever makes stir fries so I’m challenging him to add this to his repertoire, okay George?

This stir fry is simple, nutritious and quick and even had my fussy mini critics eating it up with their chops sticks.

Any leftovers are great for lunch the next day.

Sweet & Savoury Pork Stir Fry

15 minutes

  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder
  • 2 large garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 packet or pork stir fry strips from the supermarket or 600g pork neck or steaks cut into bite sized cubes
  • 1 Tbsp peanut oil (olive oil will do if you don't have it)
  • 1/2 C raw peanuts
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced, julienned if you can
  • 1 zucchini, thinly sliced, julienned if you can aswell
  • big handful of snow peas or sugar snap peas, topped & tailed and cut in half
  • handful of green beans, topped, tailed and cut in half
  • 1/2 red capsicum, thinly sliced (again julienned if you can)
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp orange juice
  • 1 packet of rice vermicelli or noodles of your choice

  1. Put the pork in a bowl and combine honey, soy sauce, Chinese 5 spice, garlic and sesame oil together and pour over the pork. If you have time marinate it for 3 hours or overnight but doesn't matter if you can't (I didn't the first time I made it and it was still very tasty).
  2. Cook the vermicelli as per packet instructions, drain and set aside
  3. Heat the peanut oil in a wok and add the pork and stir fry until starting to brown, add the carrot and capsicum and stir fry until the pork is cooked through.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients until the snow peas are tender and then add the vermicelli and toss to combine.

    This makes me crave pork!
It’s been way to long, seriously we are a chicken house most of the time. I think I have to change that very soon. X
