Panettone – what do you do with it?

I love that Panettone’s are everywhere at Christmas time. Do you, like me, get one and then wonder what to do?  I’ve stuck with having it for breakfast on Christmas morning (something to line the tummies ahead of the days feasting!) but I got to thinking what do people do with panettones???

Do you use it like bread or a cake?

This is what we do with it. As you can see, very simple, a few slices of panettone, either toasted or not, with some fresh berries, drizzle of honey and a dollop of yoghurt some years or fresh ricotta in others depending what’s in the fridge!

But having now explored a bit there is so much more that you can do with them!  Would you like me to share some of the yumminess I found?  Yes?  Well then here you have it…..many ways with panettone!

Trifle is GT’s dessert contribution to Christmas Day – we have some amazing “concoctions” from him each year (for Fathers Day we gave him his very own trifle bowl in anticipation).

Want another one?  How about Panettone Bread & Butter Pudding

So there you go, many ways with Panettone.  Any take your fancy? Have you got any recipes that you can share with us?

Being Italian, it doesn’t feel like Christmas has started till I crack open a panettone. Mostly I just have it in the morning plain with my coffee. But there are a couple of desserts I do – Torta di Verona (inspired by Buzo Restaurant, but I had a guess at the recipe as they haven’t published it) and a Tobie Puttock recipe of caramelised panettone.
