Quick, What’s for Dinner Tonight? A recipe & a linky party


Today I’m introducing something new to the blog with the aim that it will end up being a great resource for you.  A weekly “link up party” dedicated to recipes for dinners that can be made in 30 minutes or less, how about that? As a reader I’m hoping that you will pop over to this page whenever you are seeking inspiration for that  that inevitable question …. “What’s for dinner tonight?”.  If you are a blogger or have a website I’m hoping that you will join in and add links to a recipe or 2 each week or when you can.  (scroll down for the link up details)

So to kick it off and help you through hump day here’s my quick, easy and healthy recipe of the week Tuna, Lemon & Broccoli Buckwheat Pasta.  This is a great no fuss mid week meal that actually has lots of flavour,  what more can you want?

A bit on buckwheat – there is actually no wheat so it’s gluten free and also grain free as it’s is a seed (I Googled it) but you can use any pasta you like really.  Whatever floats your boat…


Tuna, Lemon Broccoli & Buckwheat Pasta

10 minutes

22 minutes

Serves 4


  • 1 packet of buckwheat pasta (or whatever pasta you like really I just use buckwheat because it's gluten free and high in protein)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  • 3/4 punnet cherry tomatoes
  • 250 g tin tuna in springwater, drained
  • zest & juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 head broccoli cut into bite sized florets
  • 2 C baby spinach leaves
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


  1. Boil water for pasta and cook as per packet instructions.
  2. In a fry pan head olive oil and add garlic & chilli. Cook on a low heat for about 2 minutes and then add the tomatoes and cook until they have softened (about 5 minutes). Add tuna, lemon juice, zest and baby spinach stir to combine and then turn off the heat.
  3. Just before the pasta gets to al dente add the broccoli to the water and cook for 1 minute. Drain the pasta and broccoli and then add to the tuna mixture and toss.
  4. Serve up into 4 bowls and season with salt & pepper

    This is such a great idea for a link up and that pasta looks delicious. We’ve tried the gluten free pasta but haven’t been brave enough to try buckwheat yet. How does it taste?

      Thanks so much Sammie – I hope that it will be helpful for people! I actually like the buckwheat pasta – it has a slightly nutty flavour but it’s pretty mild tasting especially with sauce! I actually like it better than a lot of the other gluten free pastas – let me know if you try it and what you think!

        Hey ladies! We are used to eat those here. It’s even a speciality of pasta from les Alpes. Of course we add a lot of alp cheese and smoked ham. But we really like the taste. We dislike the gluten free pasta, the ones with corn flour. I agree with Sammie, this link up quick meal is a real good idea. xx
