Mothers Day Menu and last minute gift ideas

If you are celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday or just want to be spoilt I’ve put together a menu suggestion for the day in case, you know, anyone is asking.  Also some last minute gift ideas too. You can print this off and strategically leave it lying around.

I love the idea of breakfast in bed but not as keen on the crumbs so for me cuddles and snuggles and a cup of tea and the papers is the perfect start to the day.  Hopefully there will be some homemade cards as I love getting messages from the girls and keep them in a box of special things.  I’d love it if I got to read the papers on my own while the minions whipped up a storm in the kitchen (and left it shiny and clean afterwards).

Last year I wrote this post suggesting Bacon & Egg Baskets for a Mothers Day brunch with a step by step guide, including pictures, to be printed off and handed over and I’d be quite happy with some of those again.

However, just in case we are feasting later in the day and something lighter for breakfast is in order I’ve also been loving Bake Play Smiles Almond, Cranberry & Coconut Oil Granola lately so that topped with some yoghurt would go down well.

I’ve made up a few batches of this for little gifts, pop it in a pretty jar, tie with a ribbon and an edible present is sorted.

If morning tea is where you are celebrating how about these gorgeous sounding Earl Grey & Pear Scones by Erin Made This?  I can’t get through the day without my Earl Grey, it’s my tea of choice so these look just perfect.

Now if you didn’t have the eggs for breakfast then maybe this special frittata can be made for you for lunch or dinner. I made it for a baby shower I hosted last year and it’s divine. Caramelised Eschalot,Thyme and Buffalo Mozzerella Frittata.  If you click through you can also read about the cooking lessons I learned that day too, not my finest moment in the kitchen but all ended well!

If something more substantial is in order how about this Maple Glazed Lamb Roast by my lovely co-host of Your Weekly Feed, Kim from the Land of Zonkt.

Now we can’t get through Mother’s Day without having cake can we?  This one is on the top of my wish list at the moment.

Hazelnut & Chocolate Meringue Torte made by Nancy of Plus Ate Six which is also a great one for the gluten intolerant too.

Has that got you drooling?  Now I know Mothers Day isn’t all about present and the like, in fact this quote really spoke to me.

but it is nice to be given a little something whether it be a rock, a handmade treasure or something you’ve been lusting after.  Here are 6 last minute gift ideas for a range of budgets.
