Steak Hash a simple meal


This Steak Hash is all about keeping dinner simple, quick and nourishing.  There is not much too it & it’s certainly not fancy but it’s a great way of using up veggies and getting a meal on the table in a hurry.  You can use any veggies you like, these are the ones I had floating around…

Steak Hash a simple meal


  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 tsp sumac
  • 1 sweet potato, peel and cut into bite sized cubes
  • 3 potatoes, peel & cut into bite sized cubes
  • 2 carrots, peeled and cut into disks
  • 500 g beef stir fry strips or steak cut into strips
  • 1/2 red capsicum, thinly sliced
  • 1 small broccoli cut into florets
  • 1 C baby spinach
  • salt & pepper to taste


  1. Heat 1 Tbsp of the oil in a large frypan and add the onion and saute until it starts to soften
  2. Add the garlic and sumac and stir through
  3. Add the remaining olive oil, sweet potato, potatoes & carrot and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring
  4. Add the steak and stir through then add the broccoli & capsicum and cook until the steak has browned and the veggies softened
  5. Add the baby spinach and stir through until wilted
  6. Divide up into serving bowls and enjoy

When life is full on sometimes a simple meal is all you need and all you can do too plus I’m loving sumac at the moment too!

    Hubby would smash that, I should show him be great post workout food! lol

    You have just made hash look gourmet! This looks delicious mine never looks as nice. I usually add an egg to mine too .
