In My Kitchen December 2015

Fresh Berries and Grapes

It’s the final In My Kitchen round up for the year, we seem to have packed quite a lot into one year but especially this month.  How has your month been? I’m joining in again with Fig Jam & Lime Cordials monthly peek into other people’s kitchens.

Here we go…

In November I had one kitchen, then no working kitchen, 2 kitchens and then one brand new kitchen and a lot of boxes to unpack.  It’s not completely finished but nearly there and usable for the moment and I’m loving it.  Here is the old kitchen…

perfectly fine, but we wanted something a bit more open and now a staircase is going to be where the kitchen sink used to be! I sold the whole old kitchen on Gumtree, how good it that?!

the makings of the new kitchen it’s on the complete opposite side to where the old one was and I’m mixing the white up with some wood finishes to tie in with the floor.  We are having a window splash back this time.

Your Weekly Feed my meal link up has been going for 31 weeks now and I’m loving that it challenges me to think up new meals each week to try out on the family, makes making dinner a bit more interesting!

I’ve served up a Lentil, Tomato & Vegetable Fettuccine for a meatless midweek meal

Lentil, tomato & vegetable fettuccine

and a “Naked Turkey Burger” which we will doing again I’m sure with Christmas leftovers (naked because no buns!)

"Naked" Turkey Burgers

There was some citrusy sweetness with Lemon Macadamia Biscuits

Lemon Macadamia Biscuits

there were some product reviews …

Frico Cheese platter

Frico Landkaas cheese which is a Dutch brand and was rather nice! We were also introduce to CapriLac Goats Milk Yoghurt

Mango lassi with CapriLac Goats Milk Yoghurt

and made some delicious mango lassi’s with it, really worth trying out. While we are talking about drinks we utlised the local produce and made

going local with paw paw watermelon juice

paw paw, watermelon, orange, lime and rockmelon, coconut water juice with a touch of mint!  So good for you and if necessary an excellent way to clear out your system!!!!  It was extremely hot that day (as is every day up here at the moment!) so a perfect way to cool down.

And then there was a special birthday…Miss 6 is now 7! On her actual day we had an marshmallow ice cream cake

marshmallow ice cream cake

which had to be eaten very, very quickly so that it didn’t melt in the sun, she has an obsession with marshmallows!  For her pool party I did the Womens Weekly Swimming Pool cake complete with a new style of Kit Kat’s, Kit Kat Swirl and looks quite “fence” like don’t you think?

pool party birthday cake

We also served up a pretty looking platter of fruit waffle cones

Gotta love Pinterest for party idea inspiration! (That’s my new island bench top too btw)

and it would be remiss of me not to mention that Buddy our Elf on the Shelf has arrived for the first time and is creating lots of fun around the house.

So signing off from In My Kitchen for the year.  I hope you have some festive delights up your sleeve and please pop on over to Fig Jam & Lime Cordial to have a look at what’s been going on in other people’s kitchens all around the world.

What’s been cooking in your kitchen?

Why thank you I will tell them you said that!! The light is pretty good and I’m putting in more windows where the old kitchen was so will be even brighter – the heat is something else though!
