Nutella French Toast Sandwiches

Nutella French Toast Sandwiches

For a school holiday or special day breakfast treat we have been loving these Nutella French Toast Sandwiches, only a teeny bit naughty with a whole lot of nice!

Do you do special breakfasts in the holidays or for birthdays and the like?  My Miss E likes special breakfasts for her birthday (which isn’t until January btw but pink pancakes are her thing) my fussy A is not really interested in food at the moment so can take it or leave it the whole “special” thing, which is her loss, right?!

Anyway, as it’s holidays and we had a huge Nutella jar left over from GT’s Christmas present (I know, we still have it and it’s September, not right is it!)

Personalised nutella

we got to experimenting with ways to use it up and Nutella French Toast Sandwiches were the result! YUM! Like really, really yum!

Nutella French Toast Sandwiches

I used cookie cutters to make the shapes (like my new pineapple one?) but they are not necessary if you don’t have any just do the whole sandwich the same way, crusts on or off is up to you.  I also cooked up the left over bread after we cut the shape out in the same way and ate that for my own breakfast!! Again, YUM!

This is a really simple way to make a special breaky and it’s sneaking an egg into them as well!

Nutella French Toast Sandwiches

  • 2 pieces of bread per person (I used a rye bread but whatever you like will be fine)
  • Nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1 egg per sandwich
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut oil per sandwich

  1. Heat the coconut oil in a fry pan over a medium heat
  2. Spread one slice of the bread per sandwich with Nutella and place the other slice on top
  3. Using the cookie cutter cut, press down on the sandwich to cut out the shape
  4. In a shallow fairly flat bottomed bowl beat the egg with a fork
  5. Coat each side of the "sandwich", ie cut out shape with the egg then place into the fry pan
  6. Cook on one side until golden brown and then flip and repeat on the other
  7. Serve immediately

Oh my god you had me at nutella and french toast! We got one of the huge nutella jars for Christmas last year too but it only lasted about a month lol. We’ve been through a few more since then, but never thought to try french toast, what an awesome idea! #teamIBOT

It’s a bit of a different way to use it and the kids think that they are getting something special without much effort required!
