Going Nude – Smash Nude Food Movers, 6 lunch box filler ideas + $100 prize giveaway

Smash Nude Food Competition

Did you know October is all about going nude … with your food? Well it is!  Nude Food Day actually runs for the whole month of October but there are lots of competitions and events going on in schools around the country this week in particular to support the Nude Food movement & National Nutrition Week.  Nude Food is all about encouraging kids, parents, teachers and anybody who makes their own lunch about the importance of packing healthy and rubbish free lunches.

We are nudie foodies here at BE&S, as much as possible, it’s doing our little bit in trying to eat well and help reduce landfill.  Healthy Bodies + Healthy Planet, are you on board?

To help spread the nudist love, the kind people over at Smash Nude Foods HQ sent me all these products to try out PLUS they are are offering a fabulous prize of $100 worth of Smash Nude Food Movers to one lucky Boiled Eggs & Soldiers reader (all the details will be revealed at the bottom of this post) but first how about some nude lunch box ideas to help you too join the Nude Movement?

Nude Food Products

My kids always seem to be hungry as soon as we leave the house (never at actual meal times which is extremely frustrating!) so I like to take healthy snacks out with us to stave off the whinging.  I like these Snack Tubes for snacks on the go and they are also great for school recess snacks rather than having lots of little containers rolling around in the bottom of bags!

Nude Food Tubes

Our “snack on the go” of choice these days is hummus, crackers and veggie sticks. At the risk of sounding very ernest it’s a great snack as it’s easy, raw, healthy, whole food (apart from the crackers which are not obvs, but the girls love them so what do you do?) plus, it’s easy to go nude with!  Other dips we like around here are avocado pesto, minty pea pesto and beetroot pesto.

We also love our “Crunchy Yoghurt Pots”  and the Smash Yoghurt Movers have a gel insert that you can freeze so the yoghurt stays nice and fresh until lunch time. I like that, especially where we live in the tropics!

Smash Yoghurt Movers

Handy that a spoon comes attached to it as well. Long may that last!  The “Crunchy Yoghurt Pots” are just bits of chopped up fruit through greek yoghurt which is,again, whole food rather than processed so it’s better for your bodies and also better using these type of containers than adding to landfill with lots of individual packaging. As the Nude Food message says Healthy Body + Healthy Planet!

Unfortunately, I have no advice on avoiding the tedium of making lunches but I do have lots of ideas about how to fill the lunch boxes (you can take a look under the Lunch Boxes page if you like).  My girls aren’t fans of sandwiches so I’m forever trying to think of different things for the lunch boxes, usually more for my benefit than theirs as they are actually happy with Vegemite Wraps day in day out!!!

Lunch box ideas

The big Smash Nude Food Lunch Boxes have 3 separate compartments which is good for dividing up food and not having to carry around multiple containers.  In this one I’ve put veggie sticks for the “Brain Snack” or “Munch & Crunch” or whatever it’s called. Berries and one of my easy gingerbread muffins for recess and then banana, drizzled with honey wrapped in mountain bread, a hard boiled egg and a Babybel cheese for something a bit different for lunch.

Lunch Box Sushi

These big lunch boxes are also great because they come with 2 small containers that fit into it, perfect for snack size dips and crackers!  (I took the lids off everything for the photo but it also makes washing easy when things have been lingering too long in the lunch box!!)  My youngest loves sushi but it can not have a trace of avocado anywhere near it because, kid logic!! Anyway, I often get them a sushi roll or two for lunch. I do have a DIY sushi post here if you want to give it a go at home, if I can you can, really!

Smash also make insulated bags out of what looks like wet suit material so you can keep whatever is in the lunch box chilled & nice! I was super impressed with this next lunch box because it comes with it’s own salad dressing container that fits neatly into the lid, clever! It also comes with it’s own fork, bonus for when you are out and about!

Smash Salad Box

The salad was just made with weekend bbq left overs and I put a little olive oil and balsamic in the special container.  I’ve claimed the glass bottle as my own as well thank you very much, hands off kids!

Speaking of left overs the Nude Lunch Bowl is a great size for lunch and fitted last nights dinner perfectly for my “working” lunch today. Speedy Chicken Fried Rice is just that or “Rainbow Rice” as we used to call it when the girls were little. It’s easy, tasty and filling, using brown rice it’s healthier and leftovers are an easy way to stay nude at lunchtime too.

Speedy Chicken Fried Rice

I was gifted all the Nude Food products but as always all words, thoughts and opinions are my own.  I’m happy to recommend them as products because of all the reasons I’ve just said, they are clever & user friendly but also they are BPA Free and food safe plus they make it easy to help us reduce our environmental footprint by not needing to use wrappers, foils or cling films etc.

Now, what about that competition to win a $100 Nude Food Mover’s Pack you say? Well, I know you want to because you can’t tell me that the lunch box you have had going all year isn’t just a little bit manky by now and don’t water bottles go to the same secret place that socks, hair elastics and lids do?  Mmmhhmm!  So this is a competition that you definitely want to enter, am I right?

We’ve got some of those snack tubes and they’re ace, aren’t they? Now I’m eyeing up that salad box – having the dressing container is genius because a dressed salad is a soggy salad by the time lunchtime comes around! Going nude at lunch never tasted so good!

Ha a dressed salad is a soggy salad, much better being nude until the last minute! I’m loving the nudie gags, the juvenile in me!

I love going nude in my kids lunch boxes with sushi rolls or leftovers like fried rice or pasta salad.

Cut up veggie sticks and dip are frequent favourites in my nude lunch boxes for snacking on whilst I’m at work! My work colleagues now know this and have started visiting my desk for healthy nibbles too when they start feeling peckish so I’m having to take more with me than before – lol!

Having a toddler, who can be quite a fussy eater, the best way to go nude here and ensure it’ll all get eaten is with a good old honey sandwich or some rice crackers and dip. It’s not the most fancy lunch, but any lunch that gets eaten is a winner around here!

P.S. Loving the look of those snack tubes and yoghurt movers, I’m always too scared to pack yoghurt because it’ll get too hot when out, the gel insert is genius!

Unfortunately I have no idea where the water bottles or socks go to live. I wonder if everybody’s all run away to the same place?

It doesn’t have to be fancy does it, just eaten! Whoever finds the mystery missing sock and water bottle land will become an instant gazillionaire!

When I worked from home up until recently the old bra would come off as soon as I came home from school drop off. Can’t get around in the office doing that now!! Our favourite way to go nude at lunch is with apple, cheese and sultanas. It’s an old fave from my youth. These look absolutely amazing. I especially love the snack tubes. #teamIBOT

We already have a couple of Smash Nude Food Movers pieces to help our lunch look good naked. We love cheese, ham & mayo ‘pinwheels’ made with wholemeal wraps and choc zucchini muffins (getting veggies in anyway I can!) I am going to hunt down the Smash Yoghurt Movers for some avocado choc mousse! Sounds absolutely perfect!

    • Vicki
      October 18, 2016 at 7:53 pm

Avocado choc mousse sounds an amazing thing to put into the Yoghurt Movers – must try that myself. I also like to sneak veggie in and I bet my fussy one wouldn’t have a clue there was avocado in it! Thanks for stopping by. x

While I don’t have this brand of containers, we use containers mostly over plastic wrap. The kids prefer it as well, much easier for their busy hands. Your lunches look amazing!!

    • Vicki
      October 19, 2016 at 9:08 am

You are right mine would use up their whole break time trying to get the plastic wrap off if we used it!

We’re big advocates of nude food here too. Not only is it of course great for the environment, but it encourages us to choose more healthy options rather than grab a packaged food item which is sometimes easier! So lots of fruits, vegies, wraps, dips and leftovers (fried rice is always popular!), here.

We love nude food here too, especially since we can add ‘healthier’ options to the kids lunch boxes and it’s much cheaper than buying packet snacks!

My daughter loves to cut up fresh fruit and team it with frozen berries in an airtight (& leak proof!) container for her snack at school. Sometimes she will just simply have half an avocado with a squeeze of lemon juice over it. Rice crackers and hummus dip are another favourite. She loves the independence of doing it herself (I’m sure that will wear off but I am encouraging it while I can) and I love the fact that they are healthier options. I love your banana wraps, I will have to show them to her for inspiration.
My hubby loves to take leftovers from the previous nights dinner to work to have for lunch. My plastic container cupboard is the bane of his life but he couldn’t do without it.

I love that your daughter wants to do it herself my girls choices are a bit questionable when they do it but one of mine devours frozen raspberries so I will suggest that to her. Ah the plastic container cupboard, ours is a draw but I’m sure they either multiply of disappear over night you can never tell what will be in there in the morning!

Are you sure you want my most creative and informative answer on my favourite way to go nude at lunch time? I am going to have to scale it down to PG. I love a nude wrap with tabouli and roast beef, a little toothpick action to hold it all together. 🙂

    • Vicki

Oh I like the toothpick action!!

The snack tube looks genius! I am always looking for more food containers like this, particularly for my preschooler. I have to give this range a go, they look well designed.

I like the tubes too, no more fishing around in the bottom of the bag for various containers! Thanks for stopping by.

Nude at lunch time just brought a whole new meaning from snazzy lunchboxes for a second there! HELLO!! The snack tubes are a favourite but our daycare ladies constantly send them home with the wrong kids, even though they’re labelled!! What the hell ladies?!! Luckily we hit full time school for all next year so a new nudie stash is on the back to school shopping list safe in the knowledge they won’t wander!!

    • Vicki
      October 25, 2016 at 1:47 pm

Ha! Maybe the daycare ladies are distracted by the nudie lunches too! x

A delicious range of homemade dips
Served with sesame seed biscuit strips
And fruit kebabs, they look divine
The kids’ favourite fruits all in a line
And simple cherry tomatoes and squares of cheese
Are a welcome favourite and certainly please!
Sticks of cucumber, or mini feta pies
Are some nude lunch options this mum supplies!

We love to go nude, we’re no prudes!
The kids have been know to eat lunch in the nude if you want me to tell the truth,
We love the nude food movers because we hate packing waste, bins can be hard to find and we dread squashed food, it comes home returned.
Nude food movers have spaces for everything and we’ve picked them up at the supermarket which is convenient.
For preppies and kinder kids cookie cutters are apparently what’s cool,
Cutting cheese, sandwiches, fruit and all the yummy things, even green things, into flowers, stars, hearts and things they they want to admire, pick up and devour into their lunchboxes I find is key.
Next Monday its Halloween so what better way to get into theme than to have a ghost for lunch. I have a cookie cutter perfect for the job.
Anything that can be easily be managed by small hands works well.
As for the water bottle, I got some advice from Miss 6 who pointed to her school bag where there is a compartment on the side of the bag for storage of a water bottle. I said “are you sure?” She then pointed to her mouth and said “it goes here! that’s so I don’t get hard poo’s”. Yep, we love nude food and thankfully water too!
