Beetroot Power Juice (2)

Beetroot Power Juice

Week 2 of my “Fresh February” and today I’m serving up a Beetroot Power Juice. This one is choc-a-block full of goodness too. (Last week we had a taste of the Orange, Ginger, Carrot & Turmeric Power Juice) which both my 10 year old and fussy 8 year old actually gave the thumbs up too. Lets see how the “pink drink” goes down with them!?

Beetroot Power Juice

One thumbs up, one thumbs down! Plus a double thumbs up from me so let’s say a winner!

Like last week I’ll give a quick over view of the some of the supposed health benefits of what goes into this juice but if you just want the recipe keep on scrolling down.

Beetroot: stimulates liver cell function so is always good if you are looking at detoxing, it’s got lots of pectin and fibre which has Vitamin C, iron, beta-caratone & Vitamin K which helps support healthy bones. The green leaves on the beetroot are also worth using like you would kale or lettuce.

Carrot & Ginger: same reasons as the last juice post;

Carrots = beta carotene which the body converts into Vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for keeping skin,hair, nails and eyes healthy.

Ginger is known for helping to quell nausea and also may help with certain types of pain because it can block pro-inflamatory prostaglandins (hormone like chemicals!) plus it adds a tasty kick.

Apple: an apple a day as they say…keep the skin on the apple as as they contain quercetin which is an antioxident, anti-inflamatory, it’s also a natural anti-histamine

Pears: also contain pectin, it’s a soluble fibre that can help control cholesterol and the insoluuble fibre helps promote normal bowel functions. They also add a natural sweetness to the drink.

You’ll feel so good after drinking this you will think you can climb mountains!!! (I wish but it’s too hot here at the moment to climb anything!)

Ok, so now the recipe for my Beetroot, Carrot, Ginger, Apple & Pear Juice, again I use a Thermomix but a good blender will work too just keep blitzing until smooth.
