Green Green Smoothie – Power Juice #3

This Green Green Smoothie is actually an oldie but a goodie and one we have on regular rotation so I’ve just updated the old blog post to make it part of my “Fresh February” Power Juice campaign. While Green Juices are currently a “fad” it’s one I’m on board with because it’s an easy way to get your daily greens in!

Green Green Smoothies

Miss E surprisingly really likes our Green Green Smoothie (some of the other variations not so much but this one she does, no mention of what the other one thinks of it!).

I often don’t have time to have a proper breakfast in between trying to get the school lunches made, hairs done (never mine!), finding lost hats, library books etc, etc, etc before getting out the door for the day, so downing one of these fills me up until I get a chance to eat something, not ideal but neither is the shizzle fight in the mornings!

There are endless things that you can put in your green juice but below is one of my favourites and it’s with things I usually have in the house anyway.  I do put some avocado in mine which at first I didn’t think I would be able to stomach but it adds a nice creaminess and makes it into a smoothie.  The recipe below usually makes enough for 1.5 litres

Timesaving Tip: It can be kept in the fridge in a sealed jar or with cling wrap over the glass for up to 24 hours so you can make them the night before if necessary.

I usually chuck all the ingredients into the TM (or blender/bullet whatever you have) as I’m cutting up bits for the girls breakfast & lunch boxes.

Green Green Smoothie

  • 1 cm ginger
  • juice 1/2 lemon
  • handful of parsley including stalks
  • 1/2 green apple
  • 4 - 5 stalks of curly kale or silver beet
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 celery stalk, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cucumber, cut in half
  • handful mint, leaves only
  • 200 g coconut water (can use more but it's expensive so I ration it out!)
  • top up with normal water until all the ingredients are covered
  • handful ice
  • optional extras are 1 kiwi fruit, quartered, lime juice, 1/2 an orange or anything you like really

  1. Place all ingredients into blender and blitz on speed 10 (or highest speed of your appliance) for 1 minute.

Are you on the green juice bandwagon? What’s your favourite way?

I love a green juice but I don’t usually add celery because the flavour is so strong? How is it in this juice? Can you really taste it or does the coconut and parsley tone it down?!

I can never really taste celery but yes it is toned down with all the other things but if you don’t like celery I’d leave it out – funny how people’s taste buds are so different! x
